TeraFlex Extreme Short Shaft Kit |
The newest innovation from TeraFlex is our Extreme Short Shaft kit. It is the shortest transfer case SYE for the NV231 available (shorter than all other SYE kits and the ATLAS transfer case).
The ExtremeSS kit utilizes several innovative features that have never before been incorporated into a SYE kit to achieve maximum driveshaft length. The ExtremeSS is over 3? shorter than a standard SYE kit, and 1-1/2? shorter than an ATLAS II.
The 231ESS has undergone extensive testing and finite element analysis providing documented strength benefits. The 231ESS yoke is one of the exclusive features of the kit. The yoke splines feature a full pitch diameter length. The yoke is concentric centered to the bearing which provides a better centered yoke than the standard CV style yokes that rely soley on spline engagement for centering.
The 231ESS kit comes with all necessary components to modify the stock 231 case. Speedometer readings are transferred through a tone ring and electronic sensor.
The 231ESS yoke while shorter in length is actually stronger than a standard CV style yoke. Because of the overall length reduction torque carrying capacity is improved significantly.
Note: Earlier 231 applications with mechanical speedometer cable require updating to an electronic speedometer. If a custom speedometer recalibration is required the use of a converter box will be necessary. Certain popular gear ratios and tire size combinations will NOT require recalibrations.
